Elementary and middle school teachers are hearing comments from students and parents concerning the impact of our new reading program, Foundations and Frameworks. One student so enjoyed the book she read in class that she asked her parents to bring her to the library to check out another book in that series. A third grade parent said her son came home excited about a unit his class was doing. He said, “I love the poetry we’re doing.” Another parent was so impressed by the work she was seeing her son do in his SPECS log book that she told the teacher, “I know he will be well prepared for school in the years ahead.” Other comments have been made by teachers who have seen the students carry over the skills and concepts learned in reading to other classes as well as real life situations.
